Fieldwork is typically a bit different from a field trip, which tends to be focused on education and exposure to educational content in a new environment. Fieldwork, by way of contrast, is not so much about where you go but rather what you do when you get there. Learners in creative writing classes with Ross are consistently encouraged to visit new places, discover new things, and leverage these experiences in the pursuit of being more open to the creative process. The projects, readings, and activities for these classes all emphasize the value of going outside, being with other people, exploring new places, and utilizing these experiences to enhance and deepen our own creative work. That's what the fieldwork sessions are for.

Two facilitated fieldwork sessions are offered in the fall; the full details are here.

Please note that the dates shown for the fieldwork sessions are provisional and dependent upon weather. Dates will be finalized in the week before each event.
