Welcome to week one! This is the first of 12 weekly pages that provide information and suggestions for the various weeks. Let’s dive right in.

First things first: view these pages on a computer or a laptop. That will make things easier for the first week. If you want to view these pages on a phone at any other time, that’s fine. They will work perfectly. But the desktop or laptop environment gives you more space to see things, and that will help you find your way this week. There’s quite a bit to see.

Your first basic task for this week is to read (and view) the Basics section. There is quite a bit of content, so it will take some time. The main goal of these pages is to give you a sense of why, and how, this course might be a bit different than what you are used to. (You can ignore the sections focused on contributing to the Lab, as we are not using the Lab to create pages in our course.)

Your second task is to review the course project pages.

Your third task this week is to review the reading list on the reading project page. Also, the page on the value of reading provides some context.

And, finally, complete the first creative activity.

That’s all for this week. If you get stuck, or you need help, or if you can’t find something, send me an email or attend the orientation session (check your email for the link).

Off we go!
